Grass courts 1 & 2 rested frequently.

Is it possible to have courts 1 & 2, our best grass courts in play more often next summer. Three or four times I came to the club to watch national veterans matches and club tournament quarters and semis from the viewing platform (the decking) only to find these top quality matches being played on outside courts ,making a nonsense of this great addition (ie the decking) to the club. I have spoken many people who also hold this view.

New Computerised Booking System

I am a new member and come along for a bit of a rally (tennis) with my kids once or twice a week. I find the new computerised booking system opaque. Generally I am happy to welcome technology and a few simple to understand rules written up beside the new computerwould be most helpful and cut down on the amount of time spent searching round the system in trial and error. A couple of points to illustrtate.... 1) It seems odd that I have to book a court on the Friday evening for 90 mins when I only want to play for 45 mins. I cannot then show the court is free because it tells me I will incur a fine even though I am 45 minutes into the session and have had enough! 2) How do I know which courts I can book in advance and which ones I can't without going into the system. Why do the ones I can book only 30 mins in advance seem to be only bookable in 30 min slots when we used to get 45 mins with the board system?

Court bookings

Is it really fair that as a member you do not have equal booking rights for booking courts for a ladder match as you do for playing a doubles match. Either the club supports the ladder leagues or it doesn't.

Floodlight Court 9

As the lights on this court are so poor, is it right that it is charged at the same price as the other 2 floodlit courts, which are properly lit? No-one books Court 9 out of choice, only as a very poor substitute when the other courts have been booked, as an alternative to cancelling a pre-arranged game. Perhaps Court 9 should be charged out at half the normal price?

Improve the hard court booking system

We recently sent a letter to all members describing problems when there are not enough hard courts available. We also presented 6 possible ways to reduce queues for courts, with the pros and cons. An advance booking system was the recommended option and members are asked to respond to this idea.

The letter has been added to the Useful Booking Forms web page.

What do you think we should do and why?
