Booking Help
The rules below are for booking a tennis or squash court
These rules apply whether you book on-line through this website on the internet or by using the terminal at the club.
To use the system through this website, start by clicking the Bookings tab at the top right of each page.
Log on
1. To just look at existing court or fitness trainer bookings, you don't have to log on and give your name and password. To make or cancel a booking however, you must log on.
2. If you are using the system for the first time, you will be asked to provide some information to identify yourself as a member and then to set up a password.
3. If you have forgotten your password, speak to a duty manager at the club.
4. If your membership fees or court fees are more than 1 month in arrears, you cannot log on.
5. Members who abuse the system may be suspended from using it for a period.
6. When you have finished, click Cancel Login. If you are inactive for 20 mins, i.e. you do not click any function, then you will be automatically logged out.
Find a Court
1. When you have logged on, you will see the Main Booking Page. From this page, you can select from a group of courts. Tennis courts are grouped by whether they are outdoor daytime, outdoor floodlit, indoor (dome) or outdoor at the Methodist Club next door.
2. All grass tennis courts and hard courts 1 - 4 cannot be booked through this system. They can be booked at the club on a whiteboard when you are ready to play.
3. A court in Green will have "Free" against it and is available to be booked. If it has "Booked", then it is either booked (the colour depends on the type of booking) or is unavailable for booking (Grey) because it is either in the past or more than 2 weeks ahead. It will also be grey if you have not yet logged on.
Make a Booking
1. To select a date beyond today, click "Next day or "Next week". If using this system through the internet, you can also either click the date on the calendar or enter the date in the box provided and then click "Refresh". However if you switch between different groups of courts, the date reverts to today and you must re-select the date.
2. You may book less than 2 weeks ahead at any time of the day, but you can only book tennis exactly 2 weeks ahead from 9.30 am and squash from 10.30 am. You cannot book more than 2 weeks ahead.
3. To make a booking, click the booking box for the time required. A pop-up window will appear. Your computer must not have pop-ups blocked. Click "Confirm Booking".
4. If you try to book more than 2 weeks ahead or in the past, you may find you can click the box and enter the booking, but you will then get an error message.
5. Floodlit and indoor tennis courts may only be booked for 1 hr 30 mins. Outdoor tennis courts may be booked for multiples of 30 mins up to 1 hr 30 min. Squash courts are for 45 mins or 1 hour depending on which court you book.
6. A junior without senior status cannot book tennis courts in advance and can only use the whiteboard for bookings. They may play with a senior member who has booked.
7. If you try to book a court which is not available for your membership category, you may find you can click the court and enter the booking, but will then get an error message.
8. When you book from the terminal at the club, enter the names of other members or guests with whom you are playing. You cannot enter them when accessing the system via the internet.
9. Tennis courts 5 and 6 are classified as "Multiple Activities" because they may be indoor or outdoor depending on the time of year. When you click to book, you get a pop-up window and must scroll right and click "Continue". The system will work out whether the booking is indoor or outdoor.
Use Your Booked Court
1. When you arrive to use your tennis or squash court, you must confirm you are using it. You can do this in one of the following ways :
- swipe your swipe card at the terminal by the Reception Desk, - log in and out again at the terminal by the Reception Desk, - ask at the bar, - ask a manager in their office.
You can do this up to 30 mins after the end of your booking.
2. If you do not confirm your court, you will be charged an additional penalty fee of £5.
3. If you have not yet entered the names of the other members or guests using your court, then enter them now. If they are not entered, it is assumed the other players are guests and you will be charged their guest fees.
4. If you have not used your booking 15 mins after the start time, another member may book it.
5. If you run out of time and need an extension to finish a squash game, you can book another 15 mins if a court is free.
Cancel a Booking
1. If you cancel a booking less than 48 hours before the start time, there is a fee unless the court is re-booked. The fee may be waived if it is an outside off-peak tennis court or if the weather would have prevented play. The fee is :
- indoor tennis : full court fee, - floodlit tennis or squash court and your membership status is not fully inclusive : full court fee, - floodlit tennis or squash court and your membership status is fully inclusive : £5, - outdoor daytime tennis : £5
